MSc HRM, BA Hons Business & Languages (Warwick), CELTA, TEFL, DipM, GradCIPD
I’m Nicola, which is a man’s name in most European countries, and a female name in English, which has caused a few surprises when I’ve met people for the first time! I’m a native English speaker from Oxford, and a former language student. Having tried to learn Chinese recently too (unsuccessfully!), I know how much of a struggle it can be to learn and acquire a good level of knowledge in a language, so I bring this understanding with me into the classroom. Over the last 6 years, I’ve been teaching in SE Asia across a range of age ranges and levels from poor, rural areas to hi-tech business city environments, and headed up the Business English teaching division in a training school in NE China. Before that, I worked for 20 years in business covering Sales, Marketing, HR, and Training and Development - this last area is where I found my true ‘heart’. I love the fact that teaching English brings people from all over the world together in one place with one goal – to improve their ability to speak and communicate well in English and have a good time doing it. And that’s what I look forward to helping you do!
